Hello everyone, and good day! I hope you are all doing well! This past week we found out the gender of our new baby! And as you may have noticed in the title, it's a GIRL!! (Just kidding, it's not in the title so it's more dramatic!) Brooke has taken to calling the baby Hannah, because that's the main character in her potty book... We're all very excited for the new baby!
With Monday being a holiday we decided to go take a hike. We went down to Castle Rock to climb... castle rock? It was technically called Rock Park, but I'm pretty sure the town got it's name because the rock looks like a big castle up on a hill. Anyway, it's a pretty short hike, about a half mile up, and Brooke loved hiking where she could!
Here we are getting back to the car. Brooke was very tired by the time we got back, but there's the rock off in the distance. We went to Cafe Rio to celebrate a successful hike!
Later that day we found ourselves at Target to burn some time and look for various odds and ends. While we were there Brooke had to sit next to the dog and pet it. Petting the dog took the form of grabbing it's collar and yanking on it... probably good it's not a real dog.
While at Target Monica and I decided to get some puzzles because they sounded fun. It was a box of 8 puzzles, and we're working our way through them. They range from 100 to 500 piece puzzles which means they're a little faster to do than the 750 and 1000 piece puzzles we were looking at. That's probably for the best because we can get them done after Brooke goes to bed and then don't have to worry about Brooke getting into an uncompleted puzzle the next day!
On Tuesday Monica was not feeling great and having a little bit of a rough day at home. She felt bad because she hadn't been able to take Brooke out to play or anything, so when I got home I whisked Brooke away to the park! We had a lot of fun, and it was hard to get Brooke to go home! I finally got her to head to the card, but we had to stop at the bumpy on the way. And yes, she was "jumping" onto it!
Brooke loved the bagster! Every time we'd go anywhere she would point to it and say "bagster, bagster!" Naturally I had to get a picture of her with it before it was taken away.
Brooke has started to do much better with the cat lately. She usually is very soft and only pets her, and doesn't try to pull her tail or hair or anything. This week we've also helped her hold Jelly a few times too. Whenever she gets to hold her she always hugs her in close and snuggles her face on Jelly!
Thursday was the fateful day that the bagster was hauled away! When I heard the truck pull up I took Brooke outside to watch so she could wave and say bye! She fortunately hasn't seemed to miss the bagster since it left us.
Thursday was also our trip to the doctor to get the ultrasound and find out the baby's gender! We had them write it down and had a friend put frosting in some cupcakes for our reveal. We invited people over and tried to have a video call with all of our family. We took a video too, and here it is in case you missed it! We're excited for Brooke to have a little sister!
Oh! And here's Jelly waiting for her diaper change. No wonder Brooke woke up saying "Jelly did it!" pointing into her closet. (Don't worry, nothing had happened in the closet).
This morning Monica was using the blender to make pancake batter, which of course is loud! So I taught Brooke to put her hands over her ears! Such a relief!
I think those are the highlights of our past week! I hope everyone else is doing fantastic! The kickstarter is still running for a little over a week, so feel free to go check that out if you haven't! We just hit the stretch goal for higher quality cards, so that's great!

This week was stake conference. It was great, though it's hard for Brooke to be in a single meeting for 2 long hours. We spend most of the last half hour out in the halls looking through some New Era and Ensign magazines that the bishopric keeps outside their offices. Anyway, at the Priesthood Leadership meeting I went to yesterday we had talks about going to the rescue. While much of the discussion was focused on finding and bringing back less actives, my personal take away was that I need to start looking for more service opportunities around me and participate in them. Today in one of the talks someone mentioned that when you are worried you should find someone who has it tougher than you and serve them, and just like that you're worries will go away. I'm not worried about anything right now, but it is true that when you serve others you are blessed and your general attitude improves! I encourage everyone to look for ways they can serve those around them, and make service a larger part of your life!
