Rewinding back to Monday, after getting home from work we trekked out to the back yard to the swing while Monica made dinner. I believe this was Winry's first time in the swing!
And Brooke just HAD to push her! They both had a great time, and Winry is still ALWAYS super happy whenever Brooke is playing with her! Brooke did a great job of not pushing Winry too high too!
On Monday we also went for a walk, checked the mail, and pet the flamingos! I got a bill for the rental car that got hit, so that was exciting and apparently they're working closely with SEAKR like we asked...
On Tuesday I went to the temple after work. It is not typical at SEAKR for people to be dressed up, so everyone was asking me how my interview was, or where I was interviewing. Anyway, the temple was great, and I took family names to do initiatories. It ended up taking longer than I expected, so I made it home just in time to help put the kids to bed and was VERY hungry! I'm very glad I went!
Wednesday morning after I left for work Brooke was playing on the floor and said "Mom, you're a neonate!" For those uninitiated, a neonate is a baby snake! Good times indeed!
Thursday morning play group was at the park right by where I work, so I headed over to see everyone while they were there. While I was walking up the stairs to the park I saw this on the top stair. In Colorado they post the elevation of cities on signs instead of population, and apparently this stair is where they measured the official elevation of Centennial. It really doesn't make any sense as this is just kinda half way up a hill, but apparently this is where Centennial started. Brooke and Winry were very excited to see me, and we had some goldfish together before I had to head back to work.
Later that day Monica got this picture of Winry! Monica had set Winry in her car seat and then went to put the groceries away and buckle in Brooke and Winry sat up to watch Brooke get buckled in. Monica said Winry was so happy to get to sit up and see everything that was going on, and was then VERY grumpy when she had to get buckled in herself.
Later that day Jelly found a spider in the house! Monica was not happy, and it was quite a large spider too. It's a good thing we have Jelly to find all these bugs before they try to make our home their home too! Monica let me know that I was to spray for spiders IMMEDIATELY when I got home, so I did.
Um... and also everyone fell sleep in the car...
Also on Thursday Brooke sat down on her laptop to work on her blog! :) While she was sitting there she said "I'm working on my blog 'Mom you're a neonate!'!" Guess she remembered we said we needed to include that one in the blog!
On Friday morning we headed to the airport to go out to Utah for birthdays! Monica's dad flew us out for a surprise party for her Mom's ??th Birthday! While we were looking at tickets my sister Oriah also let us know that the Friday before they were having a big party for Jerusha's 40th Birthday. Since we were already planning to head out we just took an earlier flight to make it to both! It was flamingo's first flight, so we had to make sure we documented it! Also, our friend Kelsie Wilkes, gave us a ride out to the airport! Brooke was excited!
We made it to the gate just a little before we boarded, and Monica went to get lunch. She made it back over just a minute or so before family boarding, so our timing was pretty great! Here's flamingo outside his very first plane!
Here we all are on the flight! Everyone did a great job making it through the flight. Brooke watched Goldie and Bear, and Winry took a nap!
And here we are coming in over Provo.
Here's Winry looking out the window as we flew over Salt Lake toward the airport.
Everyone was excited to land and go see family, well, everyone but Monica... She was just excited to be back on land.
Once at my parents house it was time to prepare for a fiesta! Brooke had a lot of fun getting ready!
And they even had Winry size hats as well!
Hola Senorita!
Jerusha was surprised when we got to the party, and even more surprised to see us there! Only Oriah and Niki knew we were coming, and we swore them to secrecy, so everyone else got to be surprised! Fortunately everyone seemed to be happy surprised when they saw us!
And what would a birthday be without games? And what games are more age appropriate for 40 than pin the pony-tail on the sleeping Jerusha?
P.S. Brooke did awesome!
Or a pinata? Winry even took a turn, and this was her very first time!
They were kind enough to let all of the kids go first before the adults. It was a dangerous move as Brooke was ready to give that candy box what for!
Eventually the pinata was opened (go me!) and the kids swarmed the candy! Pretty quickly all of the "known" candy was snatched. I say known because there were lots of Oreo candy bars left over, but since the kids didn't know what they were, they didn't want them! I did though, which means Brooke did, and that little trooper cleaned things up for me!
After games we headed in and had giant cookie and ice cream! Look at all
The next morning Winry and William played together on the floor! They tug-o-war'd some wet wipes for a while, and tried to grab each others pajamas and pacifiers. Winry did more pajama snatching because William's were covered in animals, and Jonathan helped get them toys if they went out of reach.
Later that morning Jonathan wanted to go ride his Jeep, and invited Brooke to come with him! I think Cameron was ready for his turn next! After riding in a few loops they stopped to let Brooke and Cameron switch and Brooke was ready to head in.
While we were inside we ended up stumbling into the front room with the piano and Brooke asked if she could play. I was then treated to this piano recital. That's two different videos, so if interested to hear some great songs watch them both!
My mom found a few last items of mine that were in the house, and I went through them while we were out there to see what I wanted to keep. One such treasure was this card that Niki made for me for my birthday.
Inside the card says "#1 The BEST Number to BE!" This card was for my 1st birthday!! Total keeper!
Saturday morning we packed back up and headed down to Monica's parents house. Everyone got there while Gram and Pop were out doing something with the singles ward, and we took the time to decorate and get the house ready. Megan and Alan's family brought a big banner that they had each kid color a letter on. Brooke colored the t, and here's Winry coloring the h!
When Lani got home she was super surprised to see us all! Sadly I did not get any pictures, but I think I might come across some (or at least take a few today or tomorrow morning) to put up next week! It was great to have everyone all together! Technically her birthday isn't till later in the month, but this was the best weekend for everyone to travel out. All the girls went out to get pedicures, and while they were out I found a big bin of puzzles and we spent the time trying to figure out which pieces went to which puzzle. We were able to get them all done except for two!
That night when we were getting ready for bed we had a helper! Jack read Brooke her bedtime story!
Once we put the kids to bed it was time for the first BYU football game of the season!! Monica went to bed at half time, but I toughed it out, and it did not disappoint! Taking away the W! Sorry Arizona.
Then it was time for a nice sleep... except that Brooke woke up screaming, woke up Winry, and everyone had a rough night from that point on. Good thing I stayed up till 12:30 to finish watching that game!
Well, I think that's about everything for this week. I hope everyone is doing fantastic, have a great week!
