What a surprise!... well, okay, we knew they were coming, but Gram and Pop paid us a visit this past week! Pop actually had a work convention out here in Denver, so they both came to say hi! They flew out on Wednesday and Gram stayed with us through Saturday. Pop came to visit visit Wednesday night, and then rejoined us Friday after things ended. We had a great time, and the kids really loved getting to play with them. Grayson ran around all weekend yelling "Pop!!" We all had a wonderful time and were sad to see them go.
Grayson has been brushing his teeth for a while now, but he's getting pretty good at doing it himself. He still needs help, which unfortunately he usually refuses to get now, but he loves to brush his teeth every night!
I went to the driving range on Tuesday night with some friends, and when I got my golf clubs out Jelly quickly climbed up on them! I guess she really loves golf, as you may remember from her playing in my hitting net a while back.
This week at dance class we got to come for the last 15 minutes to see the girls recital dances. Even better was that Gram and Pop were here on Wednesday to see Brooke's dances. She has 3 this year, ballet, jazz, and tap. She did amazing in all of her dances! We headed to Butterfields for ice cream after to celebrate!
I gave Winry a roly poly habitat for Christmas, and we're finally putting it to use. Once the girls had found their first few rollies of the year we set it all up and started growing the chia seeds. The girls caught a few rollies from our garden and put them in, and then Winry and I went online to look at the "exotic" polies. She liked all of them, so we got some orange and dalmation ones, and they came this past week.
Winry really loves them and is doing great at taking care of them. It turns out they can live for up to 5 years, so if we take good care of them they'll be here a while. Of the foods we've tried so far they LOVE carrots, and don't much care for potatoes. There's a tomato in there now, so we'll see how they like it tonight.
On Thursday Winry had her dance showcase and we got to see her do her kitty cat dance. Winry actually did her dance twice, and it was funny because the first time she looked at us the whole time and you could see that she knew the whole dance, but the second time she kept looking over at her teacher and "forgetting" what was next.
Thursday night Monica's mom watched the kids for us so we could head out on a date. We went to Crave Burgers for dinner, which was really good. I got some special fries with my burger, and the fries were definitely the star of the entire meal, they were SOOOO good! After dinner we headed to Top Golf, and we had a great time.
On Friday evening we went out for dinner to Casa Mariachi! It's been quite a while since we ate in the restaurant. I feel like this is the restaurant we have the best experience with eating at. The kids always seem to have a great time, and the staff is SO nice, especially to the kids. Well, this trip was no exception. Everyone had a wonderful time. Grayson really liked eating the chips, and that's what he had for dinner. I think he got worried he wouldn't get enough with everyone else having some, because eventually he started stashing them! What a silly boy!
On Saturday morning Monica and her mom took advantage of the good weather and worked on the garden. They weeded the whole front yard, and then I ran to Home Depot to pick up wood chips to fill everything in. We're going to add a planter box, so we're not quite done yet, but we're done back on the side of the house, as you can see below. It looks so much better!
Saturday night we did baths, and Grayson paraded around in his robe after. He was having a great time running around, and he even climbed up on a diaper box and threw down some dance moves! Good thing it's a modest robe!
This morning I was reading stories to Grayson. I asked Winry if she'd take over so I could go get breakfast. She took Grayson in her lap and tried to read him a story. It didn't work out too well as Grayson was a bit crazy and Winry couldn't really see the book, but it did give me time to get breakfast, so it was a success!
And that's a wrap for this week! We went to Tyson and Tina's house this evening, but I started writing this before then, so I'll save all that for next week :). Have a wonderful week!
