Happy Birthday to me

Well, well, what a week.  I've officially reached 35 years old, which means I've finally made it through the first third of my life.  What a day.  I had a good time, and while I did have work it was pretty easy going as I was closing out my final tasks.  Here I am with all the kids at night as we were getting ready to have cake!  You can see it poking into the picture from the bottom.  After everyone sang happy birthday Winry decided to act out blowing out the candles with me and blew one of them out!  I would be grateful for the help, except I only had 4 candles, so I think I could have managed.

Here I am at breakfast on my birthday.  I grabbed a loaf of kneaders cinnamon bread the day before so we could make French toast for breakfast.  It was terrific!  We also got the buttermilk syrup from Costco, which was fantastic.  It came with a cinnamon roll syrup too, which I am excited to try, but it seemed best to save that for not already cinnamon bread.

Monica has been out in the garden a bunch lately trying to get everything looking nice.  There are a heaping helping of weeds to be pulled out there.  One day when she was out there a woodpecker came to visit.  I think we've probably had one before too, because there's already a nice hold in the tree further down.

Winry's been working on learning to read on and off for some time.  Recently she's been more excited to get reading, and loves to read her learning to read books.  She's getting a lot better at reading very quickly.  She was even reading "Oh, the places you'll go" to Grayson this last week.

We need to start getting the house ready to sell, which mostly means that we need to pack up a lot of things to make everywhere look more spacious.  Before we started packing everything up we wanted to get pictures of the kids in their rooms the way they are right now.  I liked this picture of Winry hugging her bed.

And here's Brooke posing on the dresser.

And both of them together sitting on their chairs.  So far we've only gotten them in their rooms, and haven't packed anything yet... :)  We're getting there.

Friday was my last day of work at SEAKR.  Pretty crazy.  I was one month away from 9 years.  I got a picture at the company sign after my exit interview as I was wrapping things up.  It's kind of crazy to think that I'm all done and moving on.

On Friday night we had a Cinco de Mayo party at our house.  We invited many people over, and got a picture with Katie and David before they left.  At least we got a picture of something, AND we're notoriously bad at getting pictures with them when they're over.

But I stole their baby!  YAY!  Connor loved me, and didn't cry any more when I was holding him than he did for anyone else!  Success.

Monica's parents came out on Friday, and on Saturday Monica, Gram, Brooke and Winry went to get pedicures.  They had a lot of fun, and were very excited to show us their nails when they got back.  Generally speaking, the younger the participant, the more excited they were to show off their nails.

Grayson and Pop spent some time hanging out on the couch, checking things on their phones.  Don't worry, they're both up to date.

Saturday night Monica had a choir concert.  It was a 40th anniversary concert, and they had a bunch of conductors come from throughout the years of the choir and they all picked a favorite song to direct the choir in.  It was really good, though I did spend it all chasing Grayson around the building.  Our path did intersect the concert at times though.  The concert was really great, and I really enjoyed the music.  The 2 hours of stairs was a little rough though...

And Grayson found this chair that he really liked.  Whenever we went by he'd sit in it for a second.  He also thought it was really funny to sit down, say cheese and then bolt out before I could get a picture.  Joke's on him, if you do that too many times, I'll eventually catch you!

That's everything for this week.  I've so far spent unemployment scrambling around from thing to thing, and have been very tired!  Hopefully things can slow down a little this next week (it looks unlikely) or else I'm going to return to working finding the work day to be relaxing!
