Hello all! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend. We're enjoying General Conference over here! For those unfamiliar with general conference you can find out more about it here! Brooke has been a trooper so far and enjoys being lazy on the couch while watching the speakers.
We started out in the present this post, so now it's time to rewind to last Sunday! Brooke was having a terrific day, and can be seen here. I don't really remember the circumstances... but I think mostly the problem is just that Brooke doesn't like laying down around us. Also, when she's around us she also acts like she can't get up on her own...
One of the families I home teach just had their baby out grow their bouncer. Theirs had little toys that hung over the baby, while the one we got just had a little shade hood, so when they asked Monica if she'd want it she said yes. When Brooke saw it she just had to get in right away! She's maybe a little too big...
Brooke has also learned to climb up the back of the couch. She likes to get up to the light switches, and whenever she flips a switch she turns around to see if she got the fan to turn on! And here's a video of her climbing up the couch.
Brooke has also made some good strides in walking this past week. First, after we went on a little walk to check the mail she climbed up on her stroller and used it to walk around a little! She's also suddenly gotten comfortable walking around just holding onto us with one hand. She's also started to stand up without holding onto things more. Today she stood up in the middle of her crib and then even took a little shuffle step trying to grab on to the wall of her crib! Brooke's first step! Finally! I wonder how long it will be until her second... She has a habit of doing something, then waiting a month or two before doing it again...
This week Brooke and Monica wen't to Target to get Brooke a little potty seat. Brooke loves to sit on it! She's never successfully used it yet, but at least she loves to be up there. Guess that means potty training is around the corner.
Also, I reviewed and finalized our NIT brackets. The red are games that we got wrong, the blue games we got right... I lost by 1 game, but neither of us did very well.
I ran to work and back on Thursday. It's 6.5 miles each way for a total of 13. When I got home I started stretching, it looked so fun Brooke came to join in!
I mentioned last week that I finished the art for my new card game and placed an order for the first prototype cards. Well, they came on Saturday! Unfortunately the pictures I took came out more dull and less exciting than the cards actually look. I guess the lighting in the house wasn't very good, but the lights caused a really bad glare... Anyway, here they are!
You can't see it in the pictures, but some of the cards looked pixelated in the prints. I've since fixed the images, so things should look better the next go around.
Also, the card with the white boarder didn't quite turn out as well as I hoped. I think I just need to thicken the boarder and it will look better. I still need to design a box for the cards to go in, and then make a nicer more artsy version of the rules.
It's still a little weird to play a game that I made up on real cards. I learn a lot each time I work on something new as well. Hopefully I'll be able to finish up the rest of the game soon!
It looks like Brooke is crawling up the stairs heading for another nap, so I guess I gotta go! I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!
