Donuts, Snow, Turning 29, and Cinco de Mayo!

Hello everyone!  What a week we had.  I believe I speak for everyone when I say we had a lot of fun and got a lot done!  And when you work hard, you get to eat a donut!  For Brooke it was her first ever!

Last weekend it snowed, and we ended up not making it outside on Saturday, so we took Brooke out on Sunday!  This is probably the first time she really interacted with snow, including me making snow balls for her to throw at mom!  Sadly, she didn't throw them...

I'm glad we went out because while it was still pretty cold, the snow was melting, and by the next morning it was all gone.  You can see in this picture that it's already melted away under the tree where not as much fell.

Brooke also got to go sledding for the first time.  Turns out we don't actually have a sled... so we grabbed a cardboard box and I pulled her around.  She LOVED it!  She really likes to go down slides at the park so I think she'd really like sledding down a real hill.  Fingers crossed we get one more snow storm this year! :)

Brooke has been getting so much better about brushing her teeth at night!  Here's an up close shot.

Most mornings when I'm getting ready for work Brooke is kind enough to help me put on my shoes.  You can see she's got it on my foot.  At this point she pushes it down into the top of my foot and eventually gets frustrated that it isn't on yet.

For my birthday we went out to Indochine to get some Thai Curry!!  It was delicious as usual, and I even tried a new kind.  Brooke was really cute the whole time!  They brought us some little plates to put soy sauce on for dipping, and Brooke took one of them for her own plate.  She then set it next to her on her seat, and every once in a while she'd check on it to make sure it was still there!  She loved that little plate.

After dinner we came home for cake and to open presents.  But first we had to take a picture in front of the birthday banner!  And Brooke was actually smiling too!

Brooke then proceeded to climb on my face, which she thinks is wildly fun.

Monica made our very traditional chocolate peanut butter cake!  It is so good!!

Before we dug in, we opened presents so we could put Brooke to bed.  She helped me open them all, so there's hope for her on her birthday and Christmas this year!  She had fun ripping up the paper.

On Friday we had a Cinco de Mayo party at our house.  Sadly we didn't think to take any pictures until the aftermath, so you just get to see the decorations.

Monica did all of this while I was at work on Friday, so Brooke must have been really cooperative!

We even got the door involved.  We had a blast and hope that everyone who came did too!  Thanks to everyone for coming and for bringing things with you!

On Friday my final birthday present came.  To Monica's credit she did order it on time, but Amazon then proceeded to create the shipping label and hold on to it for 3 days before finally giving it to the courier... but at least it made it eventually.  This game is called Potion Explosion, and I'd explain it, but that was last week's post...

Friday night I also stayed up to watch Breaking 2, which was Nike's hope to get the first people ever to break 2 hours in the marathon.  It was SO close, but the final finish time was 2:00:25!  That still breaks the world record by 2 and a half minutes!

Saturday was a crazy day.  In the morning I ran 13 miles.  I thought about trying to time my run so I ended in 2:00:25, but I am in no way that good at pacing myself.  Also, I was in a bit of a hurry, so I couldn't really spare the extra minutes.  After my run I got ready really quickly and then headed to the church for our youth fundraiser.  We're doing yard work for people to raise money for camps.  Then when I got home it was time to do our own yard work.  I finally fixed our sprinklers, so hopefully our front lawn will start to grow again... and I had to cut down a bunch of branches that broke in the snow storm last week.  As a reward we got to go to the new donut shop in town!  I think it was very good and I know Brooke agrees!

Here we all are enjoying donuts together!

And then Brooke whomped me in a quick game of connect 4!

By the end of the day I was exhausted!  But at least we were able to get a lot done.  We still have a bunch of stuff that we need to get through, but hopefully things will be a little more relaxed!

I hope everyone is doing great, have a wonderful week!
