Wallabies love me!

Hey everyone!  Things have been going well over here.  We have been sick this past week, and Winry is probably going through a growth spurt and not sleeping well... It's a lovely combination...  But we're making it through, and we even have some help with Gram coming out to visit toward the end of the week.  Speaking of, we took advantage of a free baby sitter to go to Sea Quest.  It's one half aquarium, one half not!  I'll talk more about that later, but here we are with the iguanas!

To start off the week Jelly helped Brooke brush her teeth.

And then tried to sneak some tomato sauce!  She didn't quite get stuck, but she couldn't fit in the hole very well either.

This past week Monica went to the Museum of Nature and Science with the kids.  Monica said it was a lot of fun, and she wants to go back.  The kids got to try their hand at flying a rocket.  You know kids and pushing buttons.  I think they had a great time here.

Oh and look!  Brooke made it into orbit!  Good job Brooke!!

Fortunately the mission was brief, and Brooke was able to make it back in time to see the bear exhibit.  I don't really know what's going on here, I think Brooke was just excited to see the bears.

Flying to space and seeing bears made everyone tired, so naps all around on the car ride home!

Later Brooke wanted the pool set up in the house to play with, but Monica was afraid Jelly might pop it, so instead they set it up in the back yard for some dry swimming!  Everyone had fun, and eventually had to come back in.  Brooke wanted to go back out, so Monica let her head out on her own and she laid down

Monica also took Brooke and Winry to story time at the library this past week.  She said that Brooke participated and socialized for basically the first time!  In fact, she even played with the parachute when they got it out!  She had a lot of fun all morning, but was wiped out when they got home.  She was so tired she fell asleep on the couch and slept through Winry practicing CPR on her bear!

I hadn't been feeling great for most of the week, and I'm going on a trip for work next week with rather intense hours... but more on that in next weeks post.  Anyway, since I wasn't feeling good I decided to take Friday off to hopefully recover before my trip (so far it has NOT worked, and I've been sick through a 3 day weekend, instead of being sick through a 2 day weekend...).  Well, when we woke up in the morning Monica asked if we wanted to go out for breakfast, and so we headed to The Egg and I...YI-YI!

The food was really good, and Brooke had to take off her shoes, cause you know, pancakes?  Anyway, The point is that everyone enjoyed it, and we even got out before Winry started going nuts for her own breakfast!

After we got home Monica left with the kids to go pick up her mom who is coming out for the week while I am gone.  I don't think anything crazy happened on Friday, just tried to relax and get healthy.

Saturday I had to make some headway on Brooke's new bed (the one I've been working on but never mentioned before).  I finished up the frame (which means made everything but the bottom piece) so that Gram can help Monica sand and paint it while I'm gone.  So hopefully next week I'll be able to take a picture of the final product for everyone!

I spent some time playing with Winry on Saturday, and she was just so cute I had to get some pictures!  I think this one's my favorite!

On Saturday night we had to take advantage of free babysitting and go on a date, but by this point I had gotten Monica sick, so we needed something pretty low energy.  In the end we decided to go to Sea Quest, but it was about 30 minutes from our house and closed at 9, so we didn't have a lot of time.  There was a Rubio's on the way and Monica has really been wanting their fish tacos, so we stopped there to grab some food to take with us.  By the time we got to Rubio's though, we were both hungry, so we decided we'd just have a quick bite before driving to Sea Quest, which resulted in us walking into a restaurant, picking up our online to go order, walking out the door, sitting in our car (in front of said door) and eating our entire order...  Maybe we should have just stayed inside... but then we wouldn't have this picture!

Anyway, after tacos we went to Sea Quest.  They boast being very interactive, so we didn't really know what to expect.  The first image in this post is us in the iguana enclosure, where you could touch the iguanas, and if we had a feeding token we could have fed them too.  There were actually places EVERYWHERE where you could feed animals.  I think there were only a few animals you couldn't feed.  In our journeying we found this boat!

And we found an axilotl!  These things are in abundance up in one of the water reserves in Cottonwood Canyon by Salt Lake.  I remember seeing them the few times we hiked there throughout my youth.

While checking out the animals an orca suddenly burst through the floor and tried to eat my hand!

How did Monica respond?  She gave it a hug...

We went in to see the lorikeets with some other people, and they had food tokens and got to feed them (we didn't buy any, we decided to just scope it out this time).  But Monica got to sit next to them and get all the benefit!  Just look at that genuine smile!  There is a girl who is happy to have 5 birds perched on her arm trying to get some food (from the person sitting next to her)!  It was pretty cool, but you "had to" sit, and there was poop EVERYWHERE!..

We also saw this snake poking out of a pyramid.  Looked cool, and that's all...

They had wallabies there, and we were a little sad at first because their enclosure was closed off (probably for the night).  A worker saw a little girl that wanted to go in and see them though, and opened the gate for her (and us :))!  I'm glad she did because this might have been my favorite animal we saw, because they LOVED ME!!!  This little guy literally pooped with excitement.  He followed me all around and kept licking my leg (which tickled)!  He let me pet him, and rub his ears, and everything!  There are wallabies at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, and you can pet them, but they usually run away.  This guy LOVED me, and now I wonder what it'd be like to have a wallaby as a pet...  I'd always have an extra pocket, just think of the possibilities!

There were also a couple tanks with manta rays, and little sharks, and... other rays :)!  One of the fun things about people getting to feed the animals (fish included) is that when you go to see them they all swim over to you!  We definitely drew a crowd, and it may have gotten ugly...

Also while there, a shark almost got my head!  And do you know what Monica did?  She put her arm around him!  I'm not sure where that picture went though...

In honor of Winry turning 7 months this upcoming week Monica took her 6 month pictures!  Gotta get them in before it's too late!

Also Winry has started to play in the bouncer, and she loves it now!  She could just bounce bounce bounce all day long!

My sister, Niki, also posted a comment that she had some pictures to add to my family vacation post in Minnesota.  I could have added this pictures back there, but then I think most everyone would have missed them, so we're gonna do a little flash back.

Here is Brooke and Niki just partying like it's 1999 in Relief Society.  But really, that was a good year for Relief Society... (not that Brooke would know... or me either I guess...)

Niki also scored this picture of us walking down the stairs to the waterfall.  As you can tell Brooke looks super cute, and I look like I didn't know someone was taking a picture of me.

And lastly, here is a picture of a donut ice cream sandwich.  Niki either was less concerned about hers melting, or didn't have as hot of a donut...  Either way, now you get to see one.

Well... I probably shouldn't have stayed up this late (and didn't plan to) writing this, because I have to get up in 7.5 hours to head to the airport (and I"m still sick... :().  So... I'll talk to you all later, and get stoked to hear about radiation testing!
