The girls had their dance recitals this week, hooray! The girls had their recitals on different days this year, and first up was Winry's. We invited Ashley to join us. We had to get there a bit early to drop Winry off, but Grayson did great waiting for the show to start. We spent some of the time walking around the empty rows of chairs, and it didn't hurt that there was a kid in front of his seat with a tablet.
Winry had two dances this year. I believe the first was hip hop.
And then she also had tumble pom.
And here she is after her recital. She did a wonderful job and we all loved her dances! She had a great time, which is the most important thing, and is excited for dance again next year.
On the way home we stopped at Jeramiah's and all had some wonderful water ice. What a treat!
The next evening, Brooke had her dance recital. She had 3 dances. Two of them were from company. I'm gonna guess this one is a lyrical dance, (it's not, it's Jazz) but I never remember all the different types...
Brooke was also in a tumble pom class.
And finally, her second company dance, which was... some other type. We'll just call it flow. Yup, good ol' flow dance... (This was actually her lyrical dance) Someday I've gotta learn these, and it should probably be soon.
Vivian came with us to Brooke's dance recital, and then we went out for dinner after. Brooke's was earlier in the day than Winry's, so slightly different after parties. Also, I feel it worth adding that it was a ton of fun having Vivian along with us. We had a lot of fun, and she felt like another member of the family.
Winry had an eye doctor checkup this week as well. The doctor said it was the first time he was able to give her a prescription that she read 20/20 with. I think the ability to trust that she's trying to read the correct thing helps a lot there as well. Anyway, I guess that means Winry probably needs new glasses.
On Saturday, Winry got invited to a birthday party at Urban Air, and siblings could come too. Brooke had a dance thing at a new studio, so she couldn't make it, but I took Winry and Grayson. I paid for a pass as well so I could get my trampoline on. Here are most of the kids eating in the party room at the start of the party.
And here's Grayson just after jumping off a platform onto a trampoline. I had a pretty fun time following him around, and they had trampolines at an angle in the corners, and he really liked it when I bounced into the wall and got thrown back into the room.
Winry had a great time at the party, and spent most of the time running around with Logan, the birthday boy himself. She did come jump with Grayson and me for a little, and I tried to double bounce her. I've always jumped on a trampoline with someone around my own age, so I learned at the party that if you try to double-bounce someone and give them a little too much umph, they're legs just buckle and they fall down. They also still have a lot of fun!
Ah shoot. On Sunday when Monica was getting in the car to head to church she took out the yogurt we had for breakfast to put it in the fridge. She set it on the front of my car while she opened the fridge, and it slid off onto the ground. The yogurt was in our instant pot, and was a gallon and a half minus whatever we'd eaten for breakfast... Monica ran to church for choir practice, and I stayed to clean up and finish getting Grayson dressed. I scrapped up most of the yogurt and threw it in to a bag to throw away. Then I got a bucket and a rag to scrub up the rest of it.
The splatter went pretty far, so there was quite a bit of stuff I hauled out to the driveway to spray off with the hose. Anyway, I got it all cleaned up and got to church in time for the closing hymn!
That afternoon, I played Mario Wonder with the kids, and we got the final Royal seed! Grayson was so excited! We went on to beat the game that evening as well. The kids were very excited, and I think they're also excited to go back and replay levels now too.
Jelly climbed into Brooke's lap in the evening, and got into this very comfortable looking position.
And that's a wrap for our week. It was great to get to see the dances the girls have been working so hard on this year, and fun to get to spend time together as a family!
