Hello dear friends! What a week! There's been a bunch going on, but the highlight was definitely my birthday! We had a wonderful day filled with lots of fun things, and I had my now classic peanut butter chocolate cake again! Here we are ready to dig in!
Going back to last Sunday post-blog post writing we made some fruit snacks! The girls got molds to make these on Easter. They LOVE them! Monica and I wish there was a little more flavor, so we'll be looking for a new recipe. The molds make penguins, lions, monkeys, bears and frogs, and Brooke had a blast filling them in.
Also that night Winry decided she wanted a light snack, and by light I mean air. She is just learning to use a spoon, and it's good to see some practice outside of meals!
Thursday was my birthday, which has been occurring about annually as of late. We had a great day, which started in the morning with some games, because Brooke knows exactly what I'd want to do!! It was Brooke's idea, and she picked "Feed the Kitty." I'm pretty sure we all had a blast playing while eating breakfast.
I went in to work for a couple hours until lunch, and then my parents (who happened to be in town) took us to lunch! We went to Maggiano's and it was terrific! Winry warmed up to my dad very quickly and they had a great time together during lunch!
The food was fantastic and we're definitely going back soon! We went because we got a coupon for my birthday. The best news? We forgot the coupon, so we've even gotta get back by the end of the month!
After lunch Winry needed a nap, but she fell asleep in the car for 5 minutes and then wouldn't go back to sleep once we got home! So we all headed to the rec center to go swimming! Brooke had a great time, and we wanted to keep going frequently since her swim lessons just ended and we don't want to lose the good progress she made. Everyone had a fantastic time, and Brooke practiced jumping in MANY MANY times! She also practiced doing her ice cream scoop arms and swimming to the wall, and we did monkey crawls along the edge of the pool.
It seemed like Winry was getting pretty cold, so eventually Monica took her out and Brooke and I swam for a few more minutes. Winry and I headed to the locker room together once we were all dried off, and then we stopped to get a rec center pass on the way out the door!
When we got home we had dinner, which was a new enchilada recipe, and then it was time for cake and ice cream! The kids and Monica sang happy birthday and we cut the cake. Winry shared with me, and we enjoyed it all very much. Monica did a great job with the cake again!
Then it was time for presents, and Brooke picked all the wrapping paper! Princess party, my favorite! The day was pretty packed with stuff, but it was a lot of fun, and hopefully the family was able to have as great a time as I did! Brooke also wrote Dad on all of my presents!
On Friday when I got home from work everyone was playing with masks! I think Winry had a great time with it, though she'd always pull her mask off right away.
Saturday morning I went for a run, and then played with the kids while Monica started painting the basement. When she came up I went out and started digging a trench to uncover our sprinkler lines. I was able to find the sprinkler line in question, however I also was able to puncture both sprinkler lines that were run together... So I need to fix those sooner than later...
Also on Saturday Brooke had to get dance class pictures taken, and Winry and I partied at home. Winry was loving sitting on my lab and was in a great mood laughing and giggling. Also, I got some cute pictures.
Meanwhile Monica was getting pictures of Brooke! Monica didn't get to go back for the actual pictures, but we at least have some cute pictures of Brooke in her costume.
And here she is doing an L for her dance routine. They're dancing to the L.O.V.E song.
That night when we were getting ready for bed Brooke read Winry a bedtime story while Winry laid in Brooke's bed.
And then Winry sat in the rocking chair and had a few good rocks!
Yesterday we also made it down to Home Depot to get some stuff for the basement and the sprinklers, and last night after the kids went to bed Monica worked on painting the ceilings and I put in all of the outlets. We also maybe found the paint color we want for the walls, so we'll be able to finish up the painting soon too. We got most everything we need for tiling the floors, and our carpet is on order. Things are moving right along!
I think that's about everything for this past week. I hope everyone has a superb week!
